FORT WORTH, Texas – The owner of Aby’s African Hair Braiding Salon in Fort Worth says she’s had to change her policies because too many people are dishonest and hijack their hairdos.

Aby Heard said about a dozen customers have left her salon in the past without paying. Recently a couple of teens tried to do it.

"They said they’re waiting for their mom to come and she never came," Heard said.

Fed up and out about $430 for four hours of work, Heard decided it was time to call the police. They later arrested 17-year-old Kierra Williams for theft of service.

Williams said she skipped on the bill because she didn’t have the money and she thought her friend was going to pay.

"She left and left me there and didn’t pay. The police came and took me to jail," the teen said.

Heard said she now makes customers pay for their hairdo in advance.

"You have to pay before you sit. If you don’t pay, I just let you go," she said.
