I have to say that’s why I quit drinking a long time ago, its just not worth it….

LEWISVILLE – A woman driving on a busy North Texas freeway was run off the road by a suspected drunken driver and killed, police say.

The accident happened just after midnight Friday morning on Interstate 35W near Fox Avenue in Lewisville.

Traffic investigators shut down the freeway for several hours.

Police say the 53-year-old Ana-Maria Landa of Lewisville was driving north on the rainy freeway when 31-year-old Larence Carter rear-ended her in his pickup.

Landa’s white SUV careened off the road, crossed the frontage road, hurtled down an embankment and crashed against the supports of the Fox Avenue bridge.

Police say Landa died at the scene. Carter, who lives in Lake Dallas, suffered only minor injuries.

Officers took Carter into custody and charged him with intoxication manslaughter. He is currently in the Lewisville Jail, awaiting a bond hearing.
