PLANO – Firefighters are blaming Thursday night’s storms for a fire that burned a home — one that the homeowner didn’t even notice at first.

It happened as thunderstorms rolled across Plano. The people who live in the two-story brick home in the 6900 block of Pensacola Drive say their lights went out after a particularly loud clap of thunder.

Several minutes later, a neighbor called with alarming news: there were flames coming from the roof.

The homeowner ran upstairs and could feel intense heat coming from the attic. He called the fire department and got outside right away. No one was hurt.

Plano firefighters were able to knock down the flames quickly. There is no damage estimate yet.
