Amtmrak hits stalled car
BYRAM, MS (WLBT) – An Amtrak train, bound for Jackson, has collided with a Jeep at a Hinds County railroad crossing near Byram.
It happened along Old Byram Road, just north of Siwell Road at the "Jack’s Tracks" racetrack.
We’re told the Jeep had stalled on the tracks. The train dragged it about 150 yards before it could stop.
In the process, the Jeep’s engine fell out and landed in a patch of grass, where it started a fire.
An ambulance was called to the scene, but there are no reports of injuries.
The train was expected to continue on to Jackson.
